Feng Shui For The Garden [Infographic]
Feng Shui: Direct Your Garden Energy!
It's Wellness Wednesday and I have a little treat for you today! I received this amazing infographic about wellness and gardening from Pottery Barn, and I had to share it with you. You've probably heard about feng shui before, but how about feng shui for the garden?
I've long been a proponent for using the garden to achieve balance, joy, and a deeper sense of wellness (read this post about using your garden to help create a mindful morning ritual) and, although I'm not a feng shui expert, I'm very intrigued by the concept of using energy to optimize a space for better well-being.
Like you, I've always sensed the sacredness of the garden and the plants in in -- it's why many of us garden, right? You just know you feel better out there. Since my breast cancer diagnosis in 2012, I began to use my garden in a very different way in order to balance my mood, regain my sense of self, and to, frankly, have something healthy to look forward to.
That's why I wrote my book The Cancer Survivor's Garden Companion: Cultivating Hope, Healing & Joy in the Ground Beneath Your Feet -- I can't stand knowing that there are people out there struggling, all the while being unaware of how healing the garden is.
And I want to be clear -- your garden does not have to be garden-show ready or worthy of a magazine spread to help you cultivate joy and wellness in your life! Please don't add that burden on yourself. Your garden just needs to be a space where you can relax, grow some things that make you happy (roses, herbs, colorful tropicals), and add to the quality of your life.
I hope this infographic helps you -- I find it fascinating! I'm not going to redo my entire garden to reflect all the principles, but I'm definitely interested in adding some in.
How do you use your garden for healing, balance, and relaxation? Please leave a comment; I'd love to hear!
