500 Days of Meditation

I talk all the time about my meditation practice — and it's not to brag. It's because when something is so powerful to me, I want other people to know about it, too. We're all trying to create lives of health and wellness — we get up every day and get dressed and brew our coffee and do the best we can to live lives of integrity that we are excited about, right?

Meditation helps me do that. I sleep better, have an improved mood, and generally feel more satisfied with my life and relationships. I'm less reactive, more calm and peaceful. I've been meditating off and on for years, but 500 days ago TODAY I committed to a daily meditation practice. 

What else can meditation help with?

  • lowering blood pressure
  • aiding in better sleep
  • reducing stress
  • increasing focus
  • improving relationships

There are lots of ways to and styles of meditation. I use the Headspace meditation app (introductory sessions are free with an opportunity to subscribe to all the sessions for $12.99 monthly. I have a monthly subscription — well worth it!) which has hundreds of themed sessions from anxiety to chronic pain, cancer, work performance, and happiness. 

Headspace has a stats area to keep track of how long you've meditated and what packs or themes you have used.

 

Regardless of the tool you use to meditate, I can't emphasize this enough — starting a meditation practice can be one of the single most powerful tools in your wellness toolbox. I started really committing to this because I was going through some issues and was really tired of being reactive and stressed out. Does this sound familiar to you?
